Heintzman & Co. was founded in 1866 by Theodore August Heintzman who emigrated to New York from Berlin in 1850 where he worked in the piano industry.  Heintzman later moved to Toronto in 1860 and built the first Heintzman piano in the kitchen of his home.

Heintzman Pianos are commonly referred to as the Steinway of Canadian pianos, or the Steinway of the North. Heintzman and Co. has a reputation for quality and can withstand the test of time. Each piano has its own unique, rich tonal quality; all offering something a little different. They are the instrument of choice for musicians, music teachers, and performers alike. Each piano was handcrafted, with less than 200,000 manufactured before going out of business in 1978.

At Paul Hahn & Co, we focus on Heintzman pianos that are from the 1900s-1950s. Many of them have their original ivory keys. We are able to customize the restoration of each piano to your liking.
